A Bit About Me

A native Texan and avid admirer of nature, Charleen has been capturing the beauty and elements of nature for over 30 years. She is self-taught, gaining experience and knowledge from in-the–field workshops, classes and participation in photography organizations. Along with the photographic and artistic knowledge she has gained, she has also learned that the special moments one shares with nature cannot be found anywhere else and they are unique to each individual; and that nature never ceases to provide opportunities for one who is paying attention.

Drawn to the vibrant colors and art that can be found in nature, her work includes expressive waterscapes and landscapes with an emphasis on abstracts and moments of wildlife interaction. Her artistic vision leads her to explore images that can be found within the “big picture” by observing detail in a scene which might otherwise be overlooked – a flow or combination of colors, patterns and textures, one tree that stands out from the forest, or a play of light upon a subject. As her art continues to evolve, she explores new avenues for processing and printing her work. She strives to capture not only the beauty and art, but the emotion and feeling of nature in her images, and hopes the viewer will find within them a moment of escape to enjoy nature's gifts.
