A Bit About Me
My fascination for clay began in 1975 in South Africa. The fact that clay can be manipulated by throwing on the potter's wheel, pinched, cut, coiled, slabbed, textured and joined was especially appealing to me. It was my good fortune to be under the instruction of well-known South African potter Digby Hoets for approximately two years.

After immigrating to the United States in 1981, I continued my pottery as a hobby. In March 2005, my hobby became my full time profession. Whether creating by hand or using the potter's wheel in my new, fully equipped studio, my unique designs reflect my South African heritage, as well as contemporary decorative techniques.

I am a founding member of the 18 Hands Gallery; my work is also shown at the Archway Gallery in Houston, 18 Hands Gallery in Houston and Copper Shade Tree in Roundtop, Texas. Articles about my pottery have appeared in Houston Chronicle, Fort Bend Section, The Fort Bend Sun, and the Upclose magazine.
Through 30 years of growth my work has evolved into a remarkable combination of vivid, textured designs, over laid with unusual techniques of glaze application. Pottery is a never-ending challenge to me and I am constantly attempting new ideas, driven by the passion I have for this craft. The greatest influence in my work is nature. I am the current world record holder "on the potters' wheel by one person," as published in "Believe the Unbelievable" formerly "The Book of Alternative Records."

This record was set at 18 Hands Gallery in Houston, Texas on the 26th January 2008 with a time of eighteen hours and three minutes breaking the previous record by one hours and three minutes. All my pieces are one-of-a-kind, food and dishwasher safe.
